When Jaidyn was two months old, she was averse to eating and intermittent projectile vomiting. Concerned, Jaidyn’s parents rushed Jaidyn to the hospital. This hospital visit resulted in Jaidyn undergoing emergency surgery to address intestinal malrotation and volvulus. When Jaidyn was three months old more complications arose, and 6 inches of Jaidyn’s small bowel was removed as well as the appendix. Jaidyn’s scars are a reminder of the trauma and life-threatening diagnosis that Jaidyn experienced as an infant.
